Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley is most likely best known for the hosting of the 1960 Winter Olympic games and while that is a certainly a massive achievement, there is much more to this world class location. In 2012 Squaw Valley merged with Alpine Meadows further extending the skiable terrain of the individual resorts and with the California Express project approved, a base-to-base gondola will greatly improve skier access and reduce the amount of vehicle traffic between the two mountains during the busiest times. The Gold Coast Funitel or “Funi” was installed a number of years ago and has very much improved access to the upper mountain, especially during low snow years or when the spring hits and people are looking forward to the great “corn” snow created by freeze thaw cycles. The Village at Squaw Valley has been a great addition, providing year-round entertainment and amenities similar to those at any of the other great winter resorts. summer also offers many activities and adventures ranging from golf, hiking, biking, kids’ camps, rope course, climbing wall and much more. The Aerial Tram operates all year and is far from a boring ride up to High Camp, with tremendous 360° views of the lush valley and surrounding mountains. High Camp houses the fantastic Olympic Museum along with pool and hot tub facility, roller skating, disk golf and dining overlooking this spectacular and unique area. Many of the homes in Squaw Valley offer great views of the valley and mountains and are highly coveted for the great proximity to everything Squaw Valley has to offer.
